How STRONG are you? 

Whilst running is great for keeping our heart and legs strong, it doesn't do much for our arms, abs or back. That's why this programme includes unlimited access to our online fitness classes, in addition to the Friday run. 

These classes are all taught by menopause fitness specialists so you won't feel like the 'old bird' in the room! 

Classes are LIVE on zoom but all of them can be done On Demand so you can do them when it works for you.

Meet your specialist coaches

Sam Palmer - Strength, Fitness & Menopause Specialist

I’m Sam, and I’ll be supporting you with the online side of the programme. I'm a menopause fitness and lifestyle expert, here to support you over the 8 weeks.

I teach the online AAA strength classes, and my colleagues teach Pilates and yoga classes inside the Midlife Movement Hub — all designed to complement your running, reduce injury risk, and help you recover well.

As both a running coach (I also run with SLJ on Wednesdays and Saturdays) and a menopause specialist, I understand the unique challenges women face at this stage of life — from fatigue and niggles, to fluctuating energy and hormones. My classes are short, smart, and designed for women like you, so you can build strength and resilience without feeling overwhelmed.

Together, Emily, Jo and I will give you the balance of running, strength, and recovery that helps running feel good again.

Emily Chandler - Running Coach 

I first took up running back in 2009, hoping to get back into shape after having my children. Like many, I started with good intentions but ran into trouble — quite literally — with an injury in 2013. That’s when I discovered SLJ. Running with a group changed everything for me. The camaraderie was uplifting, and learning proper technique helped me avoid further injuries.

These days, I run three times a week and make time for strength training just as often. Since adding strength work to my routine, I’ve noticed a real difference — I’m running longer and faster, and I feel more in control of my movement. Mixing up the pace and terrain, along with building strength, has been a bit of a game-changer.

At the end of the day, I run because it makes me feel good — physically and mentally. And sharing the journey with a group of like-minded women has been a real boost for my wellbeing. 

 

Jo May - Running Coach 

Hi, I’m Jo! I’ve been running since 2012. I have run 10km, half marathons and even ticked off the London Marathon in 2015. These days my runs have a different purpose - I love the way running makes me feel both physically and mentally, balancing it with strength training to stay strong in my peri-menopausal years. 

I like to mix up my runs, varying distance, speed and intensity —because running isn’t just about mileage, it’s about enjoying the variety and feeling the progress. As a personal trainer, I love helping others discover that too.

Our regular meeting point is Hollybush Recreation Ground, just outside the café.
